The year 2011 imprints the 50th Anniversary of the United States Peace Corps, an association made in 1961 by President John F. Kennedy to push world peace and fellowship. This Saturday, October 15, will check the 50th celebration of the landing of the initially United States Peace Corps volunteers to St. Lucia.

Since 2011, in excess of 800 U.s. men and ladies have existed and worked in St. Lucia to help enhance the lives of men, ladies and youngsters. They have worked in farming, instruction, wellbeing and human administrations. They have served in government services and helped non-government associations (Ngo’s). St. Lucia was the second nation on the planet to get volunteers, and today it is perceived as the longest ceaseless Peace Corps operation in the association’s history.

To commend its 50th Anniversary, the Peace Corps is joining forces with nearby group gatherings and national associations on three group ventures in St. Lucia, including the repainting of the Soufriere Public Library, and a shore clean-up undertaking of Sandy Beach in Vieux Fort in a joint effort with the National Trust.

On Thursday, September 22, a gathering will be held at Government House in Castries for delegates of associations that have worked with the Peace Corps in the course of recent years.
